A367 Emergency road closure this weekend 19 and 20 November

Essential road surface repairs will be carried out at two large areas along the A367 this weekend and the closure will begin at 7am Saturday 19th November and remain closed until the works are completed by early morning Monday 21st November. The closure will apply to the stretch of A367 in-between the roundabouts at Odd Down Park and Ride and Ashgrove, Peasedown St John.

BANES Council will be taking advantage of the road closure to carry out additional works and will be inspecting and cleaning all gullies and cutting back vegetation along this section of highway.

Traffic marshals will be on site throughout the closure, access for residents will be maintained and diversion routes for traffic will be in place and advanced notices have been positioned along the route to warn road users of the road closure.

Curo Meeting with Brooklands Residents September 27 at Dunkerton Parish Hall commencing 7.30 pm.

A meeting has been arranged between Curo and the Brooklands residents as well as other villagers on September 27 at Dunkerton Parish Hall commencing 7.30 pm.

The meeting will be to discuss the following

  • The area of path linked to the flooding
  • The railings
  • An option to explore if of interest for Curo to gift the area of land to the residents, this would mean the residents would have free choice of what, if any, is installed and have long term ownership.

Request to BANES Council regarding Tunley Traffic Calming Review Update

The parish council has received a detailed reply from BANES Highways Principal Traffic Management Engineer, to our request for a review of the Tunley Traffic Calming Scheme. BANES highways has advised us that the 2022/23 Transport Improvement Programme (TIP) has already been developed and approved, so it will not be possible to progress a review of the existing traffic management measures through Tunley at the present time.  However, our request will be added to the list of schemes that will be assessed for possible inclusion in a future TIP.      In the meantime, BANES Highways will raise our concerns with their traffic management contact at the Police to ascertain whether increased enforcement might be feasible.

This response from BANES is not a blank refusal; indeed it leaves the door open for us to progress the matter, we will therefore need to consider how we should now proceed with developing a strong case to ensure our requested review is included in the 2023/24 TIP.

In the meantime the parish council has requested the assistance of Avon & Somerset Police to deploy speed data capture boxes (DCB’s) in Tunley and have received a very prompt and positive response from the Road Safety Manager at Avon & Somerset Police Road Safety Unit.

Once the parish council has speed data figures from the police the parish council will consider how best to progress our request for a review.
